As part of the effort to help decarbonise the industry, Dovetail is developing an electric powertrain to retrofit commuter aircraft to zero emissions for short flights. The Dovetail powertrain includes a full electric propulsion system, novel immersion cooling batteries as well as the ability to integrate alternative sources of fuel such as hydrogen fuel cells or turbogenerators. To validate the technology and prepare for the experimental flight test campaign, Dovetail is testing it's new Cessna Caravan Iron Bird retrofitted with its propulsion, distribution, battery and control systems.
