This presentation introduces a disruptive, 10x scale-up solution: the LA-44, a 40-seat hybrid-hydrogen eVTOL designed for regional mass transit and heavy cargo logistics. Moving beyond limited 60-mile boundaries, this platform offers a robust 600-mile flight range and a massive 4.5-ton payload capacity, operating completely free of runways on a compact 40m x 40m landing footprint. It will explore the commercial viability and certifiability of a phased technology roadmap, which delivers an asset five times more fuel-efficient than standard helicopters while charting a clear path toward fully hydrogen-powered, CO₂ neutral aviation.
The session breaks down the core engineering and propulsion architecture behind the aircraft, specifically its tandem tilt-wing design and hybrid powerplant, which combines conventional turboprops running on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) with zero-emission electric engines driven by liquid hydrogen fuel cells.
