What role does Siemens play in the aerospace test and development sector?

“Siemens supports aerospace manufacturers as they develop the next generation of aircraft, drones, and eVTOL platforms. Through the Simcenter portfolio, we help customers connect simulation and physical testing to better understand complex systems and validate designs with confidence. The integration of Altair technologies further strengthens our capabilities in aerodynamics, structures, composites, and design optimisation. From structural, acoustic, and vibration testing to propulsion validation, Siemens helps customers accelerate development while meeting demanding performance, safety, and certification requirements.”

What will the company be showcasing on its stand at this year's show?

“This year, we will be showcasing a live demonstration of a Ground Vibration Test (GVT), one of the most critical steps in aircraft and eVTOL certification. GVT provides the experimental data needed to validate structural dynamic behaviour, support flutter analysis, and correlate test results with simulation models before first flight. As next-generation aircraft introduce new aeroelastic and structural challenges, visitors will see how Simcenter solutions streamline GVT campaigns and help engineers achieve faster, safer certification and flight readiness.

“Visitors will also have the opportunity to discover the latest enhancements in Simcenter Testlab. These new capabilities further improve test data processing, analysis efficiency, and collaboration, helping engineering teams gain insights faster and make more confident decisions throughout the testing and validation process.

“For those interested in learning more about this topic, Siemens will also host its Simcenter Ground Vibration Testing Masterclass in Belgium this September, bringing together aerospace professionals for expert-led sessions and hands-on experience with real aircraft testing.

“We are also pleased to welcome colleagues who joined Siemens through the Altair acquisition and have now been part of our team for several months. They will be present on our stand to meet visitors and share their expertise with the aerospace community.”

What key trends or challenges are currently shaping demand for your products/services in aerospace testing?

“The aerospace industry is facing increasing pressure to deliver innovative aircraft faster while maintaining the highest safety and certification standards. New aircraft architectures, advanced materials, electrification, and the rapid growth of drones and eVTOL platforms are driving the need for more sophisticated testing and model validation.

“At the same time, certification programmes are becoming increasingly complex, while development schedules continue to shrink. As a result, customers are looking for integrated solutions that combine simulation, testing, and data analysis to accelerate development, improve confidence in their results, and reduce certification risk.”

What can visitors expect to see or experience at your stand this year?

“Visitors can expect to see our Ground Vibration Testing (GVT) demonstration and engage directly with Siemens experts in testing and simulation. It will be a great opportunity to discuss current aerospace challenges and learn how we help customers accelerate development and certification activities.

“We will also be demonstrating the latest enhancements in Simcenter Testlab and showing how engineers can improve test efficiency, data analysis, and collaboration across teams. Whether visitors are involved in aircraft, engine, drone, or eVTOL programmes, our experts will be available to discuss their specific challenges and share practical examples from real aerospace applications.”

Why is the Aerospace Test & Development Show an important event for Siemens to be part of?

“This is our third year participating in the Aerospace Test & Development Show, and we always look forward to it. The event brings together a highly specialised aerospace testing community and provides a valuable opportunity to engage directly with customers, prospects, and industry partners.

“These face-to-face discussions are particularly important because they allow us to better understand the evolving challenges our customers are facing and to exchange ideas on future technologies and testing methodologies. The show is also a great opportunity to meet customers and prospects that we do not always have the chance to see in person during the year and to strengthen those relationships.

“We are also pleased to contribute to the conference programme, with a presentation on mission-representative testing for defence aircraft that will explore current approaches to validation, environmental testing, and the connection between physical testing and digital engineering. We might be slightly biased, but we believe it will be well worth attending.”

Looking ahead, what’s next for Siemens?

“There is certainly more to come from Siemens in the testing space. We have an exciting announcement planned for October that we are not yet allowed to discuss, but it is something we are very much looking forward to sharing with the aerospace community. For now, you'll have to stay tuned!”

Is there anything else you would like to add?

“We would encourage visitors to stop by the Siemens stand, meet our testing and simulation experts, and discuss their current challenges with us. We always value these conversations and the opportunity to learn from the aerospace community.”
