Jean Botti

CEO and CTO, VoltAero

Jean Botti is a pioneering aerospace engineer and executive, currently serving as the CEO and CTO of VoltAero, a company he co-founded in 2017 to develop the next generation of electric-hybrid aircraft. He is widely recognized for his visionary role in the decarbonization of aviation, having previously served as the Chief Technical Officer of Airbus Group for a decade (2006–2016). During his tenure at Airbus, he spearheaded the "electric aircraft" roadmap and led the development of the E-Fan, the world’s first all-electric aircraft to cross the English Channel.

With a career spanning over 40 years across the automotive and aerospace sectors, Botti held senior leadership positions at General Motors, Renault, and Delphi, where he specialized in powertrain and chassis engineering. His technical contributions are backed by 31 patents and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering. A highly decorated figure in the industry, Botti is a recipient of the French Legion d’Honneur and a fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).

Today, through VoltAero, Botti is advancing the Cassio aircraft family, which utilizes a unique hybrid-electric propulsion system designed to fly continuously for up to 3.5 hours. He remains a prominent advocate for sustainable aviation, frequently speaking on global stages about the practical integration of electric motors and thermal engines to solve 21st-century environmental challenges.
