Roel van Benthem
Roel van Benthem has a MSc in Applied Physics (Twente University) and worked for 35 years in the aerospace industry on space and aircraft systems. Last decade he became involved in hydrogen test facilities and electric propulsion systems for drones and manned aircraft at NLR. He supports the hydrogen activities including development of new test facilities such as the Energy to Power Test Facility (EPTF) with a focus on the safety aspects. He leads NLRs contribution in the Clean Aviation project HyPoTraDe with the realization of a 500kW hydrogen powertrain demonstrator in 2026. He is a member of the joint EUROCAE/SAE working group 80 working on the new aviation standards for hydrogen systems for aircraft and leads writing of the upcoming standard AS7141 Hydrogen Fuel Cells for Propulsion
